To the Statement of a Question on Periodization of History of Indian Philosophy

The article concerns at first the question on periodization of Indian philosophy and different criteria of such periodization. But this is not possible without salvation a question whether it is in general possible to speak about there is a philosophy in India and what we mean by philosophy if we are speaking about Indian one. In giving a positive answer to the question about existence of Indian philosophy the authors analyze the preconditions which have been formed in West European philosophical tradition and have coursed settled (also for today) views it is not possible to speak about existence of philosophy in a strict sense in the non-Mediterranean cultures. In the article it is also compared the approaches to allot periods of history of Indian philosophy and of European one. The main use of such periodizations we find today in a possibility to systematization of our knowledge in this sphere. At the same time that is right out to deal with periodizations of any kind (that might be history of Indian philosophy or European one) before we clarify the relationship between history of philosophy and philosophy as such. This problem was and still is one of the main philosophical problems since the age of Enlightenment when history of philosophy began to become a branch of science. For today we have different views on that matter, what finds reflection in the article.
