Iron-catalyzed three-component reaction: Synthesis of fluoroalkylated 2 h-azirines

A convenient route for the synthesis of fluoroalkylated 2H-azirines has been developed, involving an iron-catalyzed azidoperfluoroalkylation of alkynes with perfluoroalkyl iodides and trimethylsilyl azide. This novel alkyne difunctionalization reaction produces versatile fluoroalkylated 2H-azirines, paving the way for further modifications into various heterocycles. © 2018 American Chemical Society.
