Underground mining influence on an environment

This paper presents an attempt to analyze the modern influence of underground mining on geoecological environment. The coal mine, from the point of view of environmental impact, is a complex composed of overground and underground parts, each of them having influence on a biosphere. The basic directions of negative influence are the following: withdrawal of land from usage and disturbance of lands; exhausting of water resources and disturbance of surface waters regimes; pollution of surface waters; pollution of a surface by wastes of a mining and coal preparation; relief deformation and creation of technogenic landscapes. Detailed monitoring of geoenvironment is necessary to avoid negative influence of underground coal mining industry.
