Analysis of losses in a bufferless transmission link

In this paper we use a multivariate Markov Modulated Fluid Flow model to study the loss process for a bufferless transmission link. We propose a method for the analysis of moments and correlations of congestion periods and cumulative amount of lost bits and lost packets from different sources. Such knowledge is useful for the encoding of voice and video. Then we demonstrate how the proposed method can be used for the analysis of capacity sharing policies. © Springer-Verlag Berlin Heidelberg 2007.
