Reactivity indexes of certain O-heteroaromatic carbonyl compounds in aromatic substitution reactions

The reactivity indexes (RI) of α-pyrone, 6-phenyl-α-pyrone, coumarin, and furocoumarin for aromatic substitution in neutral and acid solutions have been calculated by the Hückel method using static and dynamic approximations. The theoretical RI are compared with the experimental data available in the literature on electrophilic substitution reactions. © 1972 Consultants Bureau.
