Effect of Air Bubble on Liquid Crystal Alignment

Oriented liquid crystal (LC) cells have a uniform appearance without applying voltage. But when a voltage is applied a mosaic LC texture with sections of different orientations is observed. An accidental air bubble appeared at the LC cell making can improve LC alignment while moving. The bubble's surface tension is comparable with the LC surface anchoring. © 2022 IEEE.
