Implementation of a manipulative strategy in political discourse (on the material of Donald Trump's inaugural speech)

This article is devoted to the problem of the speech manipulation implementation in political discourse. The article discusses various stylistic techniques of manipulative strategy on the material of Donald Trump's inaugural speech (January 20, 2017). Within the framework of this study, a linguopragmatic approach was applied, as well as a continuous sampling method, contextual and linguostylistic analysis. The purpose of the study is to identify the main stylistic methods of implementing the manipulation strategy and their role in political speech. This study is an attempt to consider the phenomenon of speech influence in the context of political discourse and to study its contextual manifestation. As a result, it was revealed that the manipulative strategy of D. Trump's inaugural speech is implemented using tactics such as denunciation, self-presentation, promise, motivation, forecasting. The main stylistic techniques of speech manipulation are repetitions, syntactic parallelism, gradation, metaphor and epithets that give speech emotional coloring, evaluativeness and ensure grammatical and lexical coherence of the text.
