Tasks and Challenges Facing Bahrain's Energy Sector in International Trade and Climate Change Negotiations

Bahrain economy, as so many other oil-dominated economies, is expected to face in the forthcoming years several divergent and serious challenges with various severities. These challenges which pertain to both national and international economic relations range as per the following: Limited and soon-depleting energy resources, supposedly leading exporting and gas self-sufficient country to a net oil and gas importing country. The inevitability of further economic diversification to lessen its dependency on oil. The necessity of searching for new and more sustainable financial resources to cover and complement the local ones so as to secure firm and continuous growth.
