ANALYSIS OF FEMALE CHARACTERS IN CINEMA

Disney Corporation and its films have been a huge part of the entertainment and film industry for almost a decade, not only in the US, but throughout the world. Disney is attempting to conform to cultural norms and in-demand gender roles in its animated films. As society changes, so does the way Disney represents its characters, especially the role models for many of the girls, the Disney princesses. An analysis of 12 Disney princesses was carried out, they were divided into 4 groups. For each generation, the historical events of that time regarding the rights of women were described, the general characteristics of princesses were described according to certain criteria. Also, using a neural network, the percentages of male and female dialogues in each of the 11 animated films were calculated. As a result of the work, a division of princesses into 4 eras was obtained: domestic, rebellious, transitional and independent, which is confirmed by the results of the work of the neural network. The fate of classical princesses depended entirely on the prince they fell in love with at first sight. The rebellious princesses still hope to get their "happily ever after", and marriage for them is a solace to their rebellious nature. The transitional era continues this tradition, but love is the salvation not only for princesses, but also for princes. And in the independent era, the emphasis is not on romantic love, but on love for one's family. However, there are still romantic lines, or a strong man helps the princess. The results have shown that Disney is indeed changing its princesses and adapting to social changes, but it still has room to grow and develop. However, the analysis was carried out based on the author's own observations and lacks empirical and statistical evidence. The results will be useful primarily to teachers and other professions related to working with children.
