In today's rapidly changing world, science fiction is becoming reality faster and faster. However, there are very few works that have studied the impact of science fiction on a person at the age when he/she is mostly able to reveal the abilities under its influence: namely, at school and university age. To explore this area, a subject field review was conducted in the Scopus and ERIC electronic databases. A total of 6257 papers were identified and 30 articles were selected and included in the review. As a result, the positive impact of science fiction on the student's attitude towards science and technology, curiosity, imagination, creativity and scientific thinking is summarized. The scientific literacy of students from the point of view of teachers, as well as the scientific literacy of pre-service teachers themselves, was also considered. Very few articles have explored the influence of science fiction as a teaching tool. The review revealed that the lack of interest and attention in this topic do not allow students to develop their potential while studying at school / university. The results of this review can be used by the professionals working with teenagers and students to work out efficient basic and additional educational programmes
