The article examines theoretical and practical aspects of economic integration on the African continent, including the questions of creating an African economic community. It shows the influence of a whole range of factors retarding this process, including the dependent state of the African economy in the world economic system, great impact of traditional institutions, and also the standards and habits of behavior in the sphere of business which have taken shape over many years.
