El autor analiza la historia de Itamarati, el servicio extranjero de Brasil. Al conquistar la independencia, Brasil empiesa a construir su ministerio de las Relaciones Extrangeros. Las tareas de la politica exterior se cambian, y la estructura de Itamarati se vuelve mas complicada.La politica de Brasil en las organizaciones internacionales (ONU, OEA, OMC), la formación del MERCOSUR y el fortalecimiento de los vínculos regionales, la cooperación con los países de África, Europa y Asia se reflejan en las reformas del Ministerio de Relaciones Exteriores de Brasil. El resultado es el servicio diplomático más complejo y extenso en America Latina.

DEVELOPMENT OF THE DIPLOMATIC SERVICE OF BRAZIL

The author analyzes the history of Itamaraty, Brazil's Foreign Service. After independence, Brazil is beginning to create its Ministry of Foreign Affairs. The objectives of foreign policy changed, and the structure of the Itamaraty becomes more complicated. Activities of Brazil in international organizations (UN, OAS, and WTO), the formation of MERCOSUR and the strengthening of regional ties, the cooperation with African countries, Europe and Asia are reflected in the reforms of the Foreign Ministry of Brazil. The result is the most complex and extensive diplomatic service in Latin America.
