REPORT OF THE WHISTLEBLOWER

Since 1998, the author has regularly participated in criticism of scientific misconduct and fraud in the former Soviet Union, written several books and articles on this topic. This fragmentary autobiographical text was aimed to explain some motives and mechanisms. There is an opinion that a kind of mass neurosis is widespread in today’s post-Soviet space: a mixture of obsessions (irrational habitual practices) and phobias. Many people are disciplined by partly repressed fears maintained by more or less hidden threats and known precedents of assault and battery, etc. This is not new in our history. The topic is rarely spoken about because it is blocked by shame. On the contrary, many perpetrators of laws and mores do not experience any shame and come out as winners. This pertains to diverse phenomena: Various kinds of fraud, child and elder abuse, sexual and reproductive coercion, scientific misconduct and plagiarism. This is discussed here based on facts, names and documents. The therapy of neuroses includes catharsis, which can be compared with vomiting, when repressed subconscious contents are streaming out and become exposed in their unappetizing appearance. To achieve a healing, we should bring into consciousness and work up our recent past. © 2021 by Nova Science Publishers, Inc.
