The article provides an overview of the tools and mechanisms which have been built within Latin American integration associations to deal with the sustainable development goals. In the framework of regional cooperation, it is much more effective to solve outer problems (for example, common environmental threats) and those that come to being as the result of the integration and liberalization very processes (heterogeneity of spatial development, social consequences, etc. etc.). Fostered by the successful European experience, Latin American associations insisted on following it. But their plans were clogged and foiled by lack of means they needed to get the main mechanisms into full swing. They also failed to settle the social problems. All their deeds in that field went no further screeds and promises. So far, the environmental agenda has not turned to a new joining platform for the Latin American integration blocs. Lately the regional integration cooperation has come to a halt and begun to crumble down. Many projects have been waived. Its present looks sullen. But it doesn’t mean that the situation will not change for better in the future. © 2020. All Rights Reserved.
