Features of Dental Implantation in Patients with Type II Diabetes

The aim of this review article is to consider the features of dental implantation in type II diabetes mellitus. Diabetes mellitus is defined as a metabolic disorder of various etiologies, chronic hyperglycemia with impaired carbohydrate, fat, and protein metabolism as a result of defects in insulin secretion, the action of insulin, or both. A systematic review of the literature in the electronic databases Google Scholar and Pubmed was conducted. Articles concerning the features of dental implantation in type II diabetes mellitus and factors affecting the outcome of treatment are considered and included. Results: 120 articles were reviewed during the analyze. After making the selection based on the exclusion criteria, the number of included studies was 69. According to the studied publications, the main recommendations that must be followed to achieve successful osseointegration in type II diabetes were compiled. © 2021
