In March of this year, Cuba began the fight against the COVID-19 pandemic. In a complex scenario from the economic point of view and accentuated by the blockade of the United States of America, the island has used all its resources in favor of the health of the population. This article aims to expose the Cuban experience in confronting the pandemic from March to September 2020. It is dedicated to the study of a current topic that reveals the features of the management relationships of the public health services sector as one of the fundamental strategies to face COVID-19. The analysis process highlights the elements that strengthen the execution of the strategy implemented by the island, as well as some of the measures adopted to contain the spread of the virus. It is concluded that despite the inevitable loss of human life, the strategy adopted to combat the pandemic has been effective and has been managed with the contribution of various sectors, institutions and society in general, demonstrating the capacity of the Cuban health sector. © 2021.
