Vaginal delivery after giant fibroid myomectomy in a young pregnant woman

Hysteromyoma is one of the most common gynecopathies; its incidence in women of childbearing age reaches 40%. Large and giant tumours can cause fatal complications in mothers and feti. Abdominal myomectomy in pregnancy is an extremely rare practice featuring very few positive results. Moscow Regional Research Institute of Obstetrics and Gynecology has 20 years of experience laparotomic myomectomy of giant fibroids during gestation. We have described a unique case in this paper: myomectomy of a giant conglomerate mass of myoma nodules measuring 20×18×20 Cm during pregnancy and successful vaginal delivery in a young pregnant woman. Medical guidelines that include an improved pregnancy and childbirth algorithms for patients with large and giant uterine fibroids should be developed to reduce the number of abdominal births and perinatal complications, thus improving mothers and their unborn children’s health. © 2021, Media Sphera Publishing Group.
