Despite the gradual decrease in the share of coal in China’s national energy balance, in 2019, the coal industry continued to be one of the key elements of the Chinese economy. The article provides statistical data on coal mining in China in the first half of 2019. In addition, regional trends were examined, the main causes were identified, and the consequences of uneven growth in coal production in China were examined. Based on the analysis, the authors concluded that the largest regions and manufacturing companies were able to recover from the economic and image damage caused by major accidents in January-February 2019 by the fall. As a result, the capitalization of successful companies grows along with production growth. The stable nature of coal consumption in China, together with the limited capacity of China’s seaport terminals, creates prospects for a significant expansion of Russian exports. © F.F.
