Religion in the Qing-Jungar relations

The religious issues played an important role in the Qing-Jungar relations throughout their interaction, i.e. from the time of the formation of the Jungar Khanate (ca. 1635) and until its fall in 1757. Among the parameters of this issue we should indicate, for example, the role of the Dalai Lama in the Qing-Jungar relations, peculiarities of interaction between Oirat and Mongolian secular and Buddhist figures, Beijing policy etc. I study the clash of interests of Galdan Boshoktu and the Bogdo Gegen in the context of the Kangxi Emperor policy, aimed not only to pacification but also to subordination of the Mongolian peoples.
