To forecast possibilities of resources development of the Russian shelf, it is extremely important to organize a survey and obtain quantitative information on characteristics of the coastal zone. A promising method of diagnosing the coastal zone is the use of a unique network consisting of both land-moving objects and those floating in the coastal zone (with constant data exchanging). The currently used ground robotic platforms, equipped with a wide range of sensors, including radar systems, measure panoramic flooded zone characteristics. One such system is the developed in NNSTU autonomous mobile robotic complex for coastal monitoring, which successfully passed tests on Sakhalin Island. However, a necessary condition for obtaining reliable parameters of sea waves is the continuous measurement of data on bathymetry and wave amplitudes, which is possible only with the connection of the above-water segment of the monitoring infrastructure. The paper presents the results of the work within the framework of the complex project of NNSTU n.a. R.E. Alekseev and SRB AMR FEB RAS. Rapid measurements of wave activity over a large area with the help of telemetrically coupled mobile robotic complexes make it possible to effectively investigate the mechanisms of possible occurrence and development of natural and anthropogenic disasters in order to predict and minimize their consequences. Advantages of the group application of mobile robots in the indicated tasks are as follows: A greater range of action achieved by dispersing robots throughout the work area, extended set of functions, high probability of accomplishing the tasks, the ability to perform measurements at several points simultaneously.
