BRIDGING TRANSLATORS' UNIVERSITY TRAINING, INDUSTRY AND BUSINESS

Globalisation opens up opportunities never existed before. Today's graduates in translation studies have a good chance to make a successful career using such opportunities. Currently there is an ongoing discussion on the scope and array of the skill that can be enough to fit into the working environment in a particular sphere. The article looks at translation skills gained at higher school and maps out their further development into a business. The paper tries to identify ways that can help graduates determine their professional path and develop a promising vision into the future. It should be mentioned that the paper has been produced by rather divers actors who however have common grounds for the considerations that the paper offers. Anastasia Atabekova is the Director of the MA Course on Legal translation and Interpreting at RUDN University. Valentina Stepanova and Larissa Lutskovskaia are members of this course training team. Jiří Maštálka is a Czech politician and Member of the European Parliament, his office for many years has run internship programmes for the above course students. And finally, Fortunato Denegri who currently is the owner and director of a translation agency, graduated from the abovementioned MA course. Thus, the paper combines academic review and discussion and integrates a real story of a university graduate' professional success and transfer into business environment.
