PLANT GROWTH REGULATORS USED IN PINEAPPLE MICROPROPAGATION

Research in plant biotechnology is playing an essential role in the production and conservation of plant-based resources globally. The aim of the work is to investigate different types of plant growth regulators used on micropropagation for regeneration and better growth of pineapple explant. The influence of growth regulators on the development of in vitro explants of a pineapple plant was investigated by many workers. The mainly used plant hormones in culture medium for multiplication and root induction are such as BAP (6-Benzyl Aminopurine), 2,4-D (2,4-dichlorophenoxy acetic acid), IBA (Indole 3-Butyric Acid), Kin. (Kinetin), BA (Benzyl adenine), IAA (Indole-3Acetic Acid) and NAA (1-Naphthalene Acetic Acid). Micropropagation offers simple and reliable method of the multiplication of pineapple. From the present work, it can be concluded that elongation of shoots can be done on hormone free medium. However, many researchers reported obtaining the positive result with high length of pineapple shoots in media with Auxin, or a combination auxin with cytokinin.
