The adsorption isotherms of CO on zinc oxide in the temperature range of 233-313 K have been determined. It has been shown that, at a low degree of surface filling, these isotherms are described by the equation of induced adsorption, which expresses the change in the electron density of the surface as the surface covered by adsorbate increases. Adsorbed CO molecules are found in two positively charged forms. The preliminary treatment of the surface by glow discharge plasma in O2 results in the formation of additional adsorption centers. © 2011 Pleiades Publishing, Ltd.
