Interlamellar corneal grafting for optical purposes (Russian)

The transplant is placed in a pocket underneath the leukoma of the cornea. Upon adaptation of the graft the leukoma over the transplant is cut out with a trephine of the same diameter as the transplant. The method is simpler than the existing ones and does not require suturing for holding the graft in place. A total of 22 interlamellar graftings were performed clinically. The follow up ranged from 1 to 3 years. In 18 cases the 'take' was transparent, in 3 it was semitransparent and in one instance the transplant detached because of restlessness of the female patient.
