Collocations of "cosmos" vs "space" through the lens of corpus linguistics in the space of languages and cultures

Language governs our perception of reality. In contemporary linguistic research, language representation is often explored through the analysis of specific concepts manifested within a given discourse. These concepts are realised through individual words, lexemes, or their combinations. Vocabulary, more than any other linguistic layer, appeals to the conceptual, meaningful, and worldview-defining parameters of the model of the world. This study focuses on the lexemes '& kcy;& ocy;& scy;& mcy;& ocy;& scy;' (Russian) and 'space' (English). The analysis of their collocations and usage reveals how concepts associated with outer space are perceived and conceptualised differently in various languages within their cultural dimensions, shaped by the intersection and overlap of the cultural norms, traditions, and values of linguistic communities. Collocations, as stable word combinations, reflect the specific features of speech functioning among native speakers. They have the status of significant units within the lexical system of a language and constitute an essential means of describing linguistic material. Corpus linguistics provides tools for the empirical analysis of language and, consequently, enriches the study of lexical units, significantly broadening their representation. The rapid development of corpus linguistics as an innovative field is driven not only by technological advances enabling philologists to create new instruments for linguistic analysis, but also by earlier theoretical approaches to the study and interpretation of linguistic phenomena. By examining the collocations '& kcy;& ocy;& scy;& mcy;& ocy;& scy;' vs 'space' in Russian and English corpora, we analyse the linguistic features of aerospace discourse as a mode of materialising ideas and philosophical and sociocultural generalisations and evaluations. Collocations serve as conceptual anchors that help to trace the dynamics of these notions. The transformation of the internal and external meanings of the lexemes "& kcy;& ocy;& scy;& mcy;& ocy;& scy;" and space is presented through the lens of corpus linguistics within the domain of languages and cultures, highlighting their significance in the linguistic worldview as a unified system of perspectives - a collective philosophy characteristic of native speakers.
