A Survey on Future Teaching and Learning at Higher Education Institutions Based on an Analysis of Applications in the Smart Campus

The goal and worth of higher education are changing quickly due to advancements in technology and the increased accessibility of data. Data mining and sophisticated statistical analysis are being utilized more and more in educational institutions across the globe to handle activities including student recruiting, enrollment, behavioral prediction, and customized learning plans. This chapter examines the impact of big information and cloud computing on educational institutions. The writers present their viewpoint on the advantages, difficulties, and possibilities of utilizing big data as well as cloud technology in education through a methodical literature research and qualitative evaluation of the content. We are performing a thorough literature analysis to find patterns, categorize research topics, pinpoint possible directions for future study, and highlight any potential drawbacks. We reviewed all 40 primary papers that were published throughout 2014 and 2019 in a methodical manner. The results of this study indicate that during the past two years, there has been a rise in big data studies pertaining to education. Learner performance and conduct, model-based data from educational warehouses, system improvements, and big data incorporation into curricula are the four key research issues that are currently being explored in big data in educational research. The majority of big data educational investigations have mostly focused on teacher performance and conduct research. © The Author(s), under exclusive license to Springer Nature Singapore Pte Ltd. 2025.
