DEVELOPMENT OF APPROACHES TO TREATMENT OF CHILDREN WITH RARE AUTOIMMUNE DISEASES: A PHILOSOPHICAL PERSPECTIVE REVIEW

Due to the lack of comprehensive clinical studies, many rare diseases in children remain poorly understood and pose a serious threat to the lives of young patients who suffer from them. For years, philosophers and psychologists have sought ways to alleviate the psychological impact of these illnesses on children. This active search has led to the development of various philosophical approaches that offer solutions to the challenges faced by these children and their families. It is widely recognized that immune disorders play a significant role in the disease spectrum, and ongoing research aims to enhance the understanding of these conditions. Among the autoimmune diseases that commonly affect children, primary chronic osteomyelitis stands out as a disease of unknown origin. Many countries worldwide are actively engaged in collective initiatives to create national strategies focused on providing medical care to children facing challenges due to rare diseases. For this literature review, several resources were utilized, including PubMed, Scopus, Web of Science, eLibrary, and Cyberleninka, covering the past decade. The following keywords were used in the search: philosophy, rare diseases, history of immune diseases, children, medical care, and primary chronic osteomyelitis. The search yielded thousands of articles and e-books containing these keywords, from which articles published in peer-reviewed and reputable journals were selected. Sources that were not fully accessible were excluded, either because they were published in closed journals or because only a small portion of the book was available online. © 2025 by the authors.
