Interdisciplinary consensus: the tandem of surgeon and cosmetologist. Interdisciplinary approach to the management and rehabilitation of aesthetic patients

Objective. To develop a consensus on interaction between cosmetologist and plastic surgeon at various stages of patient care. Material and methods. An advisory board «Aesthetic dialogues. The tandem of surgeon and cosmetologist» was conducted on February 15, 2024. Nine experts (cosmetologists and plastic surgeons) took part and presented their ideas on aesthetic management and rehabilitation. Results. Plastic surgeons and cosmetologists should work in tandem. It is very important for cosmetologists to adequately assess patients, understand own capabilities and transfer appropriate patients to plastic surgeons if necessary. At the same time, all cosmetic interventions should be usually discontinued at least 6 months before surgery. Conclusion. The protocols and recommendations of the Advisory Board can become a guide for young professionals to build relationships between cosmetologists and plastic surgeons. © 2025, Media Sphera Publishing Group.
