Based on the results of research in a number of social, humanitarian and other sciences, the application of methods of analysis and ascent from the abstract to the concrete, the article shows the reaction of law as the most important regulatory system to the changes caused by the global process of digitalization in relation to the field of education. The article puts forward a hypothesis that general legal trends in the technologization and rationalization of legal regulation, as well as the standardization processes that permeate all branches of law, are, firstly, a prerequisite and guarantee of successful digitalization of educational processes, and secondly, the initial stage on the way to the transition to the use of programs in professional (including educational) activities and robots in everyday life. The first part of the article considers philosophical and practical issues related to the possibilities and realities of legal regulation of relations in connection with the digitalization of education. The second part of the article examines the history of the use of documents regulating the use of educational technologies, reveals differences in legal status and shows the possibilities of their use for the digitalization of educational activities. The third part shows the conceptual foundations of legal regulation of the further development of normative legal regulation of relations in the field of education in the part that ensures the maximum possible digitalization of educational activities. © 2025, Saint Petersburg State University.
