The new perspective on the pathogenesis of endometrial polyps involving the use of mononuclear cells

Endometrial polyps are often complicated by abnormal bleeding and often turn into malignant forms. Even with an asymptomatic course and no complaints, endometrial polyps can be the cause of female infertility. Despite effective diagnosis and polypectomy with curettage, the problem persists due to the high recurrence rate of the disease. The significant prevalence of endometrial polyposis and relapses after the intervention make it necessary to look for additional opportunities to reduce recurrent incidence in the population of women of childbearing age. Aim – to study the potential of using mononuclear cells as a means of preventing recurrence of endometrial polyps. Methods. To achieve this goal, a literature search was performed in the PubMed and Google Scholar libraries with a selection of articles on the specified topic. Results. Articles describing the use of native or modified human mononuclear cells as a means of suppressing tumor activity and enhancing an-titumor immunity were analyzed. Conclusions. The main directions in antitumor therapy based on the use of peripheral blood mononuclear cells are: 1) the use of lymphocytic concentrate; 2) blocking the checkpoints of the immune system, leading to an increase in the antitumor effect; 3) genetic modification of lympho-cytes, enhancing their tumoricidal properties. © 2023, LLC MMA MediaMedika.
