THE ROLE OF MEMES IN DIGITAL NATIVES'IDENTITY FORMATION

This research discussed how digital natives articulate their identity through memes. Digital natives, by using Internet memes, challenge dominant narratives and create a fluid identity for authentic self-expression, allowing them to express different aspects of themselves. In this research, taking into account the fluidity of identity from a post-structuralism perspective, we study how this generation puts the pieces of its identity together in the framework of internet memes and forms a collective identity. This article discusses the importance of memes that can form a part of the digital natives' identity as well as reflect it and recognize them as a mirror of their individual or collective selves.
