The purpose ofthe article is to study composite materials, their properties and structure. Their role in past and present. Most composites are made up of just two materials. One material (the matrix or binder) surrounds and bindstogether a cluster of fibres or fragments of a much stronger material (the reinforcement). Professor Jim Williams considered properties of the materials what consist compose materials. Much attention is given to the process of making a composite on the methods what they use, that consist: the process of choosingmaterials for the matrix, choosing materials for the reinforcement, choosing the manufacturing process. The author also told about modern composite materials, about sandwich composites, about aspects of our live whereit using and why its so popular. «Composites will never totally replace traditional materials like steel, but in many cases they are just what we need.
