Primary suture of the common bile duct was performed in 230 patients (24%) of the total of 960 patients operated upon the common bile duct. The authors analyze the character of pathological changes in the biliary tract, and describe in detail the technique of the restoration of the physiological conditions for bile drainage, the absence of loss of electrolytes and fluid, the reduction of the postoperative period, and the relatively low percentage of lethality.
