Summary This article gives overview of cacao world production. Due to FAO the world production of cacao in 2012 was 4 063 237 tons. The main economic aspects of cacao production are given (terms of investments, back payment etc). The analysis of the cacao market factors is given. Due to market demand there are three cacao types: industrial, organic and wild cacao (small volume on the market yet but it is positioning as having better characteristics and better for consuming). The problems of cacao producers that being developing countries they do not have enough financing for development processing facilities, so a lot of profit gain multinational companies that are very active on the market. Some attempts of cooperation are made but no on a wide scale.
