Раздел вод Нила: взгляд через призму истории

В публикации рассматривается история проблемы распределения вод Нила и взаимоотношений государств бассейна реки с конца XIX в. вплоть до строительства дамбы и гидростанции на Голубом Ниле в Эфиопии. Задача раздела вод Нила между прибрежными государствами появилась только в конце XIX века. До этого единственной страной, использовавшей воды реки для орошения, был Египет. Пока Англия господствовала в этом регионе Африки, все договоры со странами бассейна должны были обеспечивать интересы Египта, а затем и Англо-Египетского Судана, а значит самой Англии. Проблема обострилась в конце XX в., когда оказалось, что соглашения Египта и Судана отвергаются Эфиопией и другими государствами бассейна.

Section of the Nile waters: a view through the prism of history

The publication is devoted to the history of the problem of the Nile water division and the relations between of the Nile basin countries from the end of the XIX century until buildings of the Grand Ethiopian Renaissance Dam and hydropower station on the Blue Nile in Ethiopia. The problem of division of the Nile water between countries of the Nile basin appeared only at the end of the XIX century. Before this period, Egypt was the only country using the river waters for irrigation. The goal of Britain - the dominant power in this region of Africa - was to guarantee the interests of Egypt, and also the former Anglo-Egyptian Sudan, it meant the own interests of Britain. The problem was raised in acute form at the end of XX century, when it became clear that the old agreements signed by Egypt and the Sudan were rejected by other states of the Nile basin.
