Surgical treatment of spine tumors is directed to ensure radicalism in the anatomical proximity of spinal cord in combination with stabilizing the spine. However, so far a single viewpoint on the amount, type, operational access and tactics of the treatment has still not been reached. Priorov Central Institute of Traumatology and Orthopaedics has accumulated experience in treating 56 patients with tumor spinal lesions: 21 patients with benign tumors and 35 patients with malignant tumors. Indication for surgery is the presence of clinical symptoms under the condition of solitary tumor lesion spinal column and the lack of germination of the substance of spinal cord. Basing on currently available data on the effectiveness of surgical treatment of spine tumors, as well as taking into account this clinical observation, it can become clear that there’s a necessity of a radical surgical treatment implementation for solitary spine lesions to relieve symptoms of spinal cord compression and morphological verification of the tumor process.
