Changes in rhythmic components of skin bloodflow oscillations have been studied in 245 patients with chronic venous insufficiency in low extremities. A Russian-made laser Doppler flowmeter was used for this study. It has been shown that laser Doppler flowmetry objectively reflects progressive microcirculation deterioration which correlates with the severity of the disease. The described technique may also be used for early diagnostics of «asymptomatic diseases» to reveal initial stages of chronic venous insufficiency in low extremities and further adequate prophylactics and treatment.
