Статья посвящена роли Египта в системе международных отношений на Арабском Востоке на рубеже XX-XXI вв. Затронуты такие важные аспекты современной внешней политики Египта, как посредническая роль в процессе ближневосточного урегулирования, позиция страны по иракскому кризису, актуальные вопросы африканской политики АРЕ, прежде всего взаимоотношения с арабскими соседями - Ливией и Суданом, а также проблема распределения водных ресурсов реки Нил.

Egypt and the Arab World on the Threshold of the ХХ^th-ХХI^st Centuries

The article concerns the role of Egypt in the international relations in the Arab world on the threshold of the XX^th and the XXI^st centuries. It encompasses a number of important aspects of Egyptian foreign policy at the present stage, among them there are the following: the role of Egypt in the Middle East peace process, the attitude to the Iraq crisis, the course to Africa, especially to the Arab neighbours, i. e. Libia and Sudan, and also the position of Egypt to the problem of distribution of water resources of the transboundary Nile river.
