Замена тазобедренного сустава искусственным протезом является наиболее функциональным методом лечения дисплазии тазобедренных суставов (ТБС) у собак старше полугора лет. Впервые тотальный эндопротез ТБС для собак был разработан Gormann в 1957г. С того времени ведется поиск материалов, имеющих минимальную силу фения, разрабатывается оптимальная форма и техники фиксации протеза. На сегодняшний день в ветеринарной медицине наиболее широко используются эндопротезы ТБС с первичной фиксацией цементом.
