In this article the author is giving analysis of mutual connection between teaching of Russian history at the secondary schools and colleges of the Russian Federation with the use of the rich factual material. Specially emphasized the meaning of the course on the Russian history at colleges, its strong and weak sides. Specific examples show that the process of teaching of the Russian history at colleges cannot give positive and fruitful results if build on wrong argumentation, myths and legends, half-truth instead of real facts which stay behind. Purposeful concealment and distortion of historical truth leads to historical unconsciousness and forgetfulness of our historical roots.
