BIOSPHERE RESERVES AS PLACES FOR ACHIEVEMENT OF SUSTAINABLE DEVELOPMENT GOALS

Human activity and its anthropogenic impact on the environment has an important role in changes on Earth. People kill nearby plant and animal species for their basic needs, that reduces biological diversity and transform territories. The biosphere reserve concept was developed in 1974 in the Man and the Biosphere (MAB) Program of UNESCO. The article contains the overview of biosphere reserves as a way to achieve sustainable development goals and analyzes the dynamics of changes in the number of reserves in Russia and their spreading around the country.
