ON GLOBAL ENVIRONMENTAL AND FOOD SECURITY ISSUES

Food security is vital for human well-being and sustainable development, and is a key factor in ensuring world peace. However, with increasing food demand, resource depletion, conflicts, and public health emergencies, food security has become a major global challenge. Uneven food distribution is the most prominent problem, with 500 million people in the world threatened by hunger and millions dying of famine every year. Although large industrial countries have surplus food, many people in African and West Asian regions are still hungry. The world is also facing a shortage of arable land, which exacerbates the food supply and demand contradiction. The destruction of the ecological environment and unexpected events further worsen this situation. Future efforts in the field of food security may focus on expanding and perfecting the food security evaluation system, balancing the goals of sustainable development and food security, improving agricultural production and management efficiency, and studying government policies and strategies.
