ANTIMICROBIAL RESISTANCE AND AGRICULTURE IN RUSSIA

Antimicrobial resistance (AMR) is a growing concern globally, and its implications are significant for public health, animal welfare, and agriculture. In Russia, the problem of AMR in agriculture has been overlooked for a long time, and only recently, it has become a concern. This paper explores the prevalence of AMR in Russian agriculture, the drivers of AMR, and the measures that are being taken to address this issue. The study shows that AMR is prevalent in Russia's livestock, poultry, and aquaculture sectors, and the use of antimicrobials in animal husbandry is a significant driver of AMR.
