The theoretical problems of identifying the role of soils in the formation of the underground hydrosphere as an initially active component of hydrogeological systems (HGS) are considered. The central role is given to the contribution of the organic component in the system "water-rocks-gas-living matter". From the thermodynamic point of view, the concept of the throughput capacity of systems under conditions for various conditions of structural interactions of components is introduced. The structural increment of entropy is recognized as an informative measure of the evolutionary development of systems with distributed parameters.
