Surface properties of solids and size effects in nanophases

Size dependencies of some atomic properties of nanophases related to extended interfaces are considered. Results of calculations of the size dependence of the lattice parameter in small crystalline particles are compared with available experimental data. The influence of quantum and anharmonic effects on size dependence of the heat capacity is discussed. © 1993.
