The problem of well being in the third age is discussed in the article. Our study investigated the effects of different types of activity on somatic and psychological health of the elderly. The results of the study support the assumption that activation of cognitive processes in learning in the third age results in higher level of psychological and somatic health and in increase in subjective well-being.
