Currently, alcohol is one of the most common psychoactive substances used in the Russian Federation and worldwide. According to WHO, about 140 million people on the planet suffer from alcohol addiction. As a result, patients with this diagnosis are encountered in clinical practice often and regularly, which makes it relevant to develop appropriate clinical guidelines. These guidelines reflect modern approaches to the management of patients with alcohol dependence, describe the principles of prevention and treatment of the most common complications, such as alcohol withdrawal syndrome, delirium tremens, infectious complications; the principles for assessing the risk of these conditions are also described. © 2022, Media Sphera Publishing Group.
