The study aimed to analyze the influence of medical and social factors on the self-esteem of patients with chronic dermatological diseases as well as their lifestyle and level of medical care. The study included 413 patients with chronic dermatological diseases and their families living in the Tula re-gion and Moscow City. The average age of the respondents was 42.4 ± 15.8 years. A questionnaire survey based on the original questionnaire of the author was employed. Data were statistically processed using parametric and nonparametric statistical tests. In all, 68.8% of the respondents with chronic dermatological diseases were female. The study revealed that eczema 43.4% was the predominant chronic disease of the skin and subcutaneous tissue, followed by atopic dermatitis 36.3% and psoriasis 20.3%. According to the respondents, the reasons that contributed to the disease onset were heredity 59.6%, environmental 54.2%, mental stress-related 50.8%. Only 65.3% indicated that they were under regular medical check-up. With regard to the main causes of noncompliance with medical prescriptions, respondents indicated the lack of time and high cost of medicines 38.0% and 36.3%, respectively. The presence of medical and social factors that negatively affected the duration and course of chronic dermatological diseases was not-ed. A significant group of patients had low medical activity, and their adherence to preventive measures was insufficient. © 2022, Colegio de Farmaceuticos de la Provincia de Buenos Aires.
