SELF-AWARENESS OF ARTIFICIAL INTELLIGENCE: SCOPING REVIEW

Consciousness plays an important role in the debate about mind, body, and artificial intelligence. The idea of attaining and overcoming human abilities implies knowing the set of distinctive characteristics that define humans. To explore this question, a parsing of documents in the academic database Scopus was conducted. The aim of the work is to review the studies written in the period from 2015 to 2021, which propose the functions of artificial intelligence methods. In a systematic review, a total of 154 documents were identified and 29 articles selected and included in this review for a more qualitative analysis. A robot wielding consciousness should be able to extract meaningful information and show a similar reaction as a human. It also implies the ability to assimilate this information, reason about it and independently form one's own opinion and decisions. Attempting to create conscious machines capable of defeating humans would result in the machine no longer being considered a computer. This review provides an overview of consciousness research and the possibility of transferring it to the machine, as well as an assessment of the possibility of creating machines capable of reproducing human abilities such as emotions, feelings, consciousness. The results of this review can be interesting for the professionals dealing with AI.
