EFFECT OF ADDITIVES ON SUGAR BASED SOLID PROPELLANTS: RESEARCH WORK

This paper examines the effect of additives on the burning rate of rocket fuel consisting of potassium nitrate and sugar. Cylinders of the same height were formed from solid rocket fuel. Each of them had a different amount of additives. The burning time of each cylinder was measured. Based on the results obtained, a graph was constructed. The measurements were carried out with high accuracy (ten control points). In other articles on this topic, measurements were made with low accuracy (about five control points). Two additives are being considered: iron oxide and sulfur. The purpose of this work is to find the optimal percentage of catalyst in rocket fuel. The effectiveness of the two additives will also be compared. These results can be used in practice in the manufacture of the most efficient rocket engine using fuel based on sugar and potassium nitrate. The results of this work will be useful to people who are fond of making rocket models. In connection with the development of the Internet, the numbers of such people are constantly increasing, that is why the research work is up to date
